Fees & Booking

Classical Guitar Retreat has a limited number of spaces. This is to ensure an excellent ratio of teachers to students and to allow for space within the programme to tailor the course to the needs of each individual participant. The level of contact with the teachers and performers coupled with the attention offered to every participant makes CGR one of the most valuable and rewarding musical experiences for the keen and committed Classical Guitar Student.
The 2020 CGR begins on Tuesday 7th and ends on Monday 13th July.
Registration takes place between 10am and 12noon when there is a welcome talk ahead of lunch and classes beginning at 2pm.

Don’t panic if the rooms at the Cathedral are sold out!!

In addition to the rooms at the cathedral the Island of Cumbrae has many other excellent options for accommodation most of which are within a 5 to 15 minute walk from the Cathedral.
Non Residential Participants are encouraged to book their accommodation as early as possible as there can be high demand for rooms on the island during the summer season.
Every year of the CGR there have been many Non Residential students who have found excellent accommodation elsewhere on the island. CGR has established an good relationship with the various Bed & Breakfast's, Guest Houses, Hotel, Hostel and Camp-Site on the island.
Further information on the various types of external accommodation is available on request via email. The Island of Cumbrae is small and many of these alternative accommodation options are very close between a 5 and 15 minute walk away from the Cathedral.
It is possible to take Lunch and Dinner in the Cathedral Refectory even if your accommodation is elsewhere on the island, please email or phone for more details.

Course Withdrawals

With regard to withdrawals from the course, these can be made in writing (email is fine) no later than 4 months before the course start date to ensure receipt of a course fee refund minus a small charge to cover Paypal /Admin Fees.

The Island of Cumbrae is easily reached from the small town of Largs by making a short 10-minute ferry trip.

There are excellent transport connections to Largs from Glasgow. Largs is approximately one hour by road, rail, car or bus from Glasgow City Centre and 45 minutes from Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick airports.

“As far as setting is concerned, Cumbrae’s Cathedral can most certainly be counted among the best that festivals worldwide have to offer.”
Guy Traviss, Classical Guitar Magazine

“The retreat was truly a unique experience. The setting on this quaint little island with its lovely cathedral was unlike any other guitar gathering I have attended.”
